Life Lessons from Charles Schultz

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.


You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies..

Awards tarnish.

Achievements are forgotten.

Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners..

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special!!

The Lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials..

The most money...or the most awards.

They simply are the ones who care the most.

It is time to ask the magic question about the year that was. So what?


So what happened?

What was good?

What was not so good?

So what are you going to do differently?

So what are you going to avoid?

So what? What came of your accomplishments?

So what. It is true when you put it that way. So what .
Did you make a difference to someone or something? So what. Are you proud of where you are today? Do you know where you are going tomorrow? And how are you going to commit to it?

Ask yourself the So What question as you set your goals for 2012.  Let's share our goals, or even one goal so that we can offer support for each other.

Attitude is everything - I am sure that you have heard that so many times.  I goes with hiring the right attitude because you can teach that person whatever is necessary to do the job.  The attitude we take towards ourselves and the world around us, makes all the difference to our success and accomplishment.  Naoleon Hill says it well when he says:

"Have respect for the world that gives you opportunities. Let your attitude reflect that respect."

Take care of the world and those within it, it ill continue to give you opportunities, what you do with those opportunities is completely up to you.
