Grow Rich #8

Profound words connect and make meanings stronger. I find that as I read, surf the net, watch/listen to television, the combination of words and images create powerful messages that connect.

This image describes a line from Grow Rich along with the connection to a line from an Oprah re-run I was watching while on the treadmill (I almost fell off, it made so much sense)!

Know Thyself.
Live your life only.
Our children are not of us, they pass through us to the world.

Grow Rich Update

As I mentioned in an earlier post....actually, way back at the end of December, I would update you on my learning from the awesome book by Napoleon Hill 'Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind'.

I have collected a series of quotes that put the book into perspective for me - good lessons and thoughts.  The next few posts will carry the theme.

Here is the first set:

Every adversity has within it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.

and along with that came the thought -

close the door to your past.

My thoughts go back to this often.  I know that we need to travel the road we have been on to become who we are.  I never thought though, that I may need to close the door to my past so that the hurt that is there will go away and no longer come back to me, leaving me with the lessons that I continue to build upon everyday.

Have you read the book?  What are your thoughts on this?

Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind

So I have started reading a second Napoleon Hill book:
Grow Rich! With Peace of Mind.

Couple Things...I always thought it was piece of mind, not peace of mind.  Now it makes sense to me.  I guess I focused on the saying  'give you a piece of my mind'.

Already this book is amazing!  Thanks to Joe DiGiorgio from HoldPlease( a cool company that promotes your messages, services and products through your voicemail and phone answering system).  He gave each of us in our 'wicked' group a copy for Christmas.

I am going to share with you what I learn, as I am learning it.  Later ...when I am done, I will post it as a slideshare presentation on my LinkedIn Profile.

Here is the first one:
"Every adversity has within it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit."

Think about that....look for the positive in anything that you attempt.  Although you may not get there or find that you were not as successful as you had hoped, what did you learn that you could apply to the future? Where did that situation take you instead of the destination that you envisioned? What does that mean to you now?

I'll keep reading and keep you posted!
